Although the density and structural strength of the ring will never be the same as a hand made ring there are advantages to cast made CAD designed diamond rings. CAD rings are designed then that information is transferred to create a 3D wax model of the ring, which is then used to cast a gold copy of the ring.
Advantages of cast made diamond rings
The greatest advantages of cast making a CAD diamond ring is that very large style rings or rings with very intricate and complex designs can be created with more accuracy and in less time at a more affordable price. Some designs are just far to complex and time consuming to be effectively hand made. As long as there is a solid base structure to the ring and the settings are not going to be compromised from the casting process a quality one off cast made ring can have its advantages.
3D model of the final CAD design
Using CAD to design your ring allows you to accurately see the 3D model of your final ring. The CAD design rings images can be printed with a rendered finish or even a 3D wax model made to allow clients to see every angle of the final design and make any slight changes to the design before it is sent out to be cast.
One off CAD designs compared to a mass produced diamond rings
There is a difference between a one off CAD designed diamond engagement ring and a mass produced cast made ring. Like a hand made diamond ring a one off CAD ring is designed from scratch but the method of making the ring is different. Quality still favors cost and a one off cast will still be a solid made ring with a unique design and the diamonds are all set by hand. A mass produced diamond ring is primarily made for cost efficiency where the ring will be hollowed out to reduce the amount of gold required and with some complex designs the diamonds are set into the wax cast to reduce the cost as well.
