The Rio Tinto Argyle diamond mine has joined with the Perth Mint to produce a very unique legally issues gold coin collector piece. Weighing in at 1kg the pure gold coin features a red kangaroo carrying a 0.54ct purplish red Argyle brilliant cut diamond. Worth a magnificent $1 million the Kimberly Treasure will be marketed for only the highest end specialty investors.
Launched at the Perth Mint With Premier Colin Barnett the coin is the most expensive coin ever produced and is expected to sell within a few months. The coin will be on display at the Perth mint until the end of August for prospective buyers but with such an incredible price tag there will only be a small number of investors that a coin like this will be able to attract. Saying that the coin is expected to sell within a few months and will most likely sell to a overseas collector.
Rio Tinto’s Argyle diamond mine producing only a hand full of the rare pink diamonds and even fewer of the red diamonds that is featured on this coin. Managing director Simon Trott was delighted to be collaborating with the Perth Mint on this exclusive coin release and said “It is a beautiful symbol of the unique treasures of Western Australia and sets a new benchmark in limited edition craftsmanship.”
