What is an investment grade Argyle pink diamond?
Like any desirable product people will always be drawn to wanting the best that is available. However like a luxury car they want the best but often need to settle with what is realistic and affordable. All Argyle pink diamonds are rare and expensive but the best most unattainable pink diamonds will always be the greatest investment. There are a large number of pink diamonds that are very light pink or brown pink that will never be considered of favourable investment but many of the mid-range grades are still very much a great investment opportunity which is why consulting your options with an expert is always the best way to make the best purchase decision.
The grade at which an Argyle pink diamond can be considered an investment seems to be dropping each year as the number of diamonds available reduces and the close of the Argyle diamond mine approaches. What was not considered of particularly high investment potential 10 years ago is now being encouraged as a very viable option. In general the higher the size, colour and clarity the more rare and desirable a pink diamond becomes but many can also come at unachievable prices.
As the size goes up the higher the acceptance is of a lower colour and clarity grade and as the size gets smaller the higher the requirement of deeper colour and better clarity.
Any diamond of colour grades 1-3 in pink, purple pink or rose pink in any clarity or size are generally investment grade as finding them is very rare in any circumstance. Pink diamonds of 4-6 P or PP are still very rare but are a lighter pink and assisted with the help of greater size and clarity.
