The asscher cut diamond is one of the least known diamond shapes with clean step–cut facets producing large flashes of colour. An asscher diamond engagement ring creates a sophisticated and elegant style that can be enhanced by the sparkle from small accent diamonds.
The asscher cut diamond’s history began in 1902, and was created by the Asscher brothers in Holland. The cut was highly popularised after World War 1 during the Art-Deco movement. Essentially a square version of the emerald cut the original cut had 58 facets with a prismatic brilliance of rectangular step facets. This stunning style cut is very open so it is important to select a diamond with a high colour and clarity as imperfections can be more noticeable.
